Collectie: AOC PESSAC-LEOGNAN

The AOC Pessac-Léognan is a fairly recent appellation since it dates from 1987. However, it has a very old terroir dating back to the Middle Ages. Located on the south, south-western outskirts of Bordeaux, the appellation includes all the great classified growths of the Graves, including the mythical Château Haut-Brion. It produces many red wines (67,000 hl/year on 1,300 ha) and some dry white wines (15,000 hl/year on 265 ha).

Composed of gravel, pebbles, sand and clay, the soil allows the red grape varieties (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec) and the white grape varieties (Sauvignon and Semillon) to have a typical expression. It is this combination that gives the wines of Pessac-Léognan their particular style.

The red wine of Pessac-Léognan is fleshy, well-balanced, with tight tannins, and finishes with notes of ripe red fruits and licorice. As concentrated as it is complex, the white wine asserts its personality with its fat and unctuous side, its great freshness and its very good balance.
