The property

Nestled in a vast forest a short distance from Léognan in the Bordeaux region, Château Olivier cannot deny the richness of its past, which it bears in its medieval architecture. Currently owned by the Bethmann family since 1886, this reference in the Pessac-Léognan appellation has undergone major investments in both the vineyard and the winery.

The vineyard

This classified growth of Graves, certified HVE level 3 and Iso 14001 since 2016, has a vineyard of 52 hectares dedicated to its red wine.

The vintage

The mild winter favored an early budding. The frost episodes at the end of March did not impact the vineyard. The mildness of spring combined with a significant amount of rainfall led to strong mildew pressure. Although the beginning of June was rainy, the summer conditions were particularly hot and dry until August 11th when three days of rain helped to boost the ripening process. The temperatures remained high during September and the berries concentrated in sugar, anthocyanins and tannins. The harvest was carried out in good conditions and in perfect sanitary condition.

Blending

Château Olivier 2020 is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (52%), Merlot (42%) and Petit Verdot (6%).
