Collectie: AOC PAUILLAC

The AOC Pauillac is located on the left bank of the Gironde and combines exceptional climatic and geological conditions, which allows it to produce great wines. Capital of the Médoc wine region, the port city of Pauillac gave its name to the appellation. The AOC can boast three wines in the first five great classified growths of 1855: Lafite Rothschild, Latour and Mouton Rothschild. On its 1,200 ha of vineyards, Pauillac produces 54,000 hl of red wine each year. Note that Mouton-Rothschild also produces a white wine.

Pauillac is a jewel of the Médoc, it has indeed 18 classified growths which represent 85% of its production. Perched on a beautiful gravelly hilltop, its soil is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon blended with Merlot and to a lesser extent Petit Verdot and Malbec. Experts agree that Cabernet Sauvignon has found its preferred terroir here.

The mouth of Pauillac is full, rich, unctuous, underlined by a fine weave of tight and full-bodied tannins. The ageing of these wines is exceptional: they have a great ageing potential, from 15 to 25 years, or even more for certain grands crus. With the years, the tannins become rounder and the aromas open up. They lose their aggressiveness to become fine and delicate, while keeping their power.
