Located in the heart of the Médoc region of Bordeaux, the terroir of the Pauillac appellation is renowned for having one of the best soils for growing vines. The grape variety that dominates the vineyard is Cabernet-Sauvignon at 65%, followed by Merlot at 30%, Cabernet Franc at 3% and Petit Verdot at 2%. The Pichon Baron hillock, a great terroir already recognized and in production in 1694, still constitutes the major part of the blend of the great wine.
Soil
The gravelly soil, low in nutrients and without excess water, feeds all the vines, however varied they are.
Vinification and maturation
- 18 months: 80% new barrels
