The vineyard
The vineyard of Château Léoville Barton covers 50 hectares. Planted on gravelly soil with clay subsoil, the vines are on average 38 years old and produce a great Saint-Julien wine.
Vinification and maturation
The grapes are harvested by hand, de-stemmed and then carefully sorted. Crushing and transfer to thermo-regulated wooden vats. Vinification by plot. Alcoholic fermentation for 7 to 10 days. Gentle extraction accompanied by pumping over. Maceration of about 3 weeks before running off in batches into barrels. Aged for 16 to 18 months in French oak barrels (60% new).

Cabernet sauvignon (85,5%)
Merlot (14.5%).
