Château Haut-Brion is one of the 1st classified growths in 1855 and also classified growth of Graves. In this vintage, which experienced exceptional conditions, the exceptional Haut-Brion terroir was able to correct, like all great terroirs, the excesses of summer with its heat and drought. In the end, the 56% of Merlot, the 6.5% of Cabernet Franc, the 37.5% of Cabernet Sauvignon which make up the 2016 Haut-Brion blend, were collected between September 19 and October 13. 2016 therefore sees more Merlot in the blend than in 2015. Bright red in color with purple and garnet reflections, Haut-Brion 2016 displays a nose that is both very complex and expressive. Charm and admiration operate with a sensation of striking aromatic freshness on scents of violets, red and black fruits. The palate is juicy, dense, full-bodied, precise and held from the attack to the finish by a very chiseled, very straight acidity. The wine has weight and displays tannins of exemplary finesse and maturity. The grain of the tannin is such that the touch is creamy, coated, silky. The finish is long and the whole, of a beautiful balance, seems complete, perfect, very refined. Undoubtedly one of the finest bottles of Haut-Brion in the worthy line of 2010 and the most outstanding vintages of the château.
