Description

The Balance and Freshness of a Margaux Grand Cru Classé

The Estate

Located on the Left Bank of Bordeaux, Château Giscours is a historic estate in the Margaux appellation, with vines first planted in the 16th century. This magnificent Third Classified Growth is a true emblem of the Bordeaux region, featuring distinctive neoclassical palace-style architecture, a park with rare tree species, and buildings including the beautiful "Ferme Suzanne". Since 1995, Château Giscours has entered a new era in its history following its acquisition by the Albada Jelgersma family.

The Vineyard

Château Giscours 2021 is a Margaux wine produced from a 95-hectare vineyard (out of a total 300 hectares). A true gem, the estate’s terroir is distinguished by the presence of three deep Garonne gravel ridges, which play a decisive role in the grape ripening cycle.

The Wine

2021 marks the 450th vintage of the estate.

Vinification and Aging

Harvested from September 27 to October 13. Manual and optical sorting. Fermentation in concrete and stainless-steel vats. Maceration for 35 days at 28°C. Aged for 17 months in French oak barrels, with 50% new oak.
