The Estate
The name Fonréaud, once known as "Font-réaux" (meaning "Royal Fountain"), is steeped in legend. It is said that an English king stopped here in the 11th century, discovering a spring to quench his thirst.
Named "Le CYGNE" (The Swan), the emblem of the family who built the château, this wine carries the name of a bird, much like other white wines from Listrac-Médoc.
Vineyard Cultivation
Vine cultivation at Château Fonréaud is guided by a steadfast commitment to harmony between the vine and its environment. This approach ensures well-aerated foliage and a balanced grape load that ripens gently under the sun. Depending on their characteristics, the plots are either grass-covered or plowed. The harvest is conducted manually, in multiple passes, selecting only the most golden grapes.
Fermentation and aging take place in barrels, with 40% new oak depending on the vintage. The wines are aged on fine lees with regular bâtonnage (lees stirring), revealing the full complexity of the perfectly ripened grapes.

The Bordeaux Appellation
The Bordeaux appellation encompasses the entire Bordeaux wine region, a vast and diverse area with a wide range of soils and terroirs. Bordeaux red wines are supple and fruity, offering a rich aromatic palette derived from the blending of different grape varieties. On the nose, they reveal aromas of red fruits such as raspberry, blackcurrant, and violet. Primarily crafted from Cabernet Sauvignon, which provides tannic structure, and Merlot, which brings fruitiness and a velvety texture, Bordeaux wines may also include Cabernet Franc for rounder, spicier expressions.
Bordeaux dry white wines display a pale to golden straw hue. They exude elegant fruity and floral aromas, with citrus (lemon) notes enhanced by white flowers and white-fleshed fruits (peach). On the palate, they are lively, with roundness, power, and beautiful balance. The blend typically features Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon in equal measure, with Muscadelle adding wild, musky nuances.
