The property
Grand Cru Classé, Château Fleur Cardinale reveals all the typicality of the terroir of Saint-Émilion, the emblematic appellation of the right bank of Bordeaux.
The vineyard
Château La Fleur Cardinale has a vineyard of 23.1 hectares which constitutes a real mosaic of soils with 7 different soils and sub-soils of clay and limestone nature.
The vintage
2020 is an early vintage, both in terms of the development of the vines throughout the year, and in terms of the earliest start of the harvest in the history of the property. Although two Merlot vines were harvested on September 17 and 18, a rainy episode caused the harvest to stop for a few days in order to perfect the maturity of the rest of the vineyard.
Vinification and maturation
2020 is the first vintage to be entirely vinified and aged in the new facilities of the property. Manual harvesting. A first sorting in the vineyard is followed by a de-stemming, a densimetric sorting and a manual sorting before a gravity vatting. Vinification in 20 truncated cone-shaped vats, 5 wine-keepers and 20 barrels. Aged for 12 to 14 months in barrels (100% new) and two amphorae.
Blending
Château La Fleur Cardinale 2020 is a blend of Merlot (76%), Cabernet Franc (20%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (4%).
