The vineyard
The terroir of Fronsac is composed of a mosaic of soils from which the vineyard of Château de La Dauphine benefits. The vines, which cover nearly 53 hectares, are planted on clay-limestone soils, clay-limestone soils on molasse of Fronsac or on limestone with asteria. Committed to an ethical and environmental approach in the era of time, the Château de La Dauphine cultivates its vineyard under the certification of organic farming as well as according to the principles of biodynamics.
The vintage
This 2019 vintage rhymes with serenity for the Château de La Dauphine. After a mild winter and a dull spring, summer temperatures reached record levels. This exceptional climate combined with the viticultural strategies of Château de La Dauphine ensured an excellent sanitary state. The low rainfall in September favored the ripening of the grapes and the volume of juice, while ensuring a harvest under the best auspices.
Vinification
Manual harvest from September 23 to October 3. Rigorous harvesting by plot. Reception by gravity. Double sorting. Fermentation thermoregulated at 28°C. Vatting time of 30 days. Extraction by manual pumping over. Vertical pressing. Malolactic fermentation in barrels (30%).
Maturation
Aged in separate batches. 12 months of maturation. 30% new wood.
Blend
Merlot (85%), Cabernet Franc (15%).
