Made from a blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot and 1% Cabernet Franc, the 2016 vintage of Château Cos d'Estournel benefited from exceptional and atypical conditions. Located north of the Médoc, in the Saint-Estèphe appellation, the vines of a high average age benefit from an ideal terroir for the production of a rare wine, with extremely clayey soils. The deep roots have made it possible in particular to fight against the extreme variations of the weather linked to a severe drought in the department of Gironde. The aging of the wine was managed in barrels, 60% of which were new. The 2016 Château Cos d'Estournel is exquisitely graceful, of a scale without excess and of an extremely delicate harmony. Not to make its legend lie - Cos d´Estournel seems at first always secret and intriguing - the wine opens up little by little and brilliantly delivers its intense fruit. The wine is of great amplitude and exceptional balance, already giving it a character of great drinkability. The tannins are present but graceful, even very integrated. The wine displays finesse and elegance, offering a lingering finish. The aging potential of Cos d'Estournel 2016 promises to be impressive.
