Growing season weather conditions :
The winter was a little colder than usual, but after the month of March the region enjoyed a prolonged spell of sunshine.
After a rainy April and an often stormy May, the flowering process at the beginning of June went smoothly and evenly. Very sunny weather set in during the summer without it ever becoming excessively hot. The marked water stress in the vines and fine weather conditions were conducive to perfect grape ripening.
After a dry July with high temperatures that led to water stress, the two periods of rain at the beginning of August helped produce a homogeneous veraison.
Temperate weather conditions set in during the first days of September together with alternating cool nights and warm days that produced good concentration of juices in the berries. The rains of mid-September injected new energy and strength into the vines and helped bring about excellent phenolic ripeness. Fine, sunny weather then quickly returned. During the harvest an Indian summer favoured optimal ripening of the grapes. The crop’s very homogeneous quality and perfect health showed early signs of an attractive, elegant vintage.
The cellarmaster’s view
We harvested grapes of very fine quality. Very good weather conditions allowed us to wait for each plot to reach optimal ripeness.
The vinifications went smoothly. We fermented the musts using a combination of pump-overs, punching down of the cap, and rack and return. The wines were very harmoniously balanced, and the post-fermentation maceration enhanced their flesh and volume.
